My name is Kimberly Lee and I’m a children’s book author from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

a little bit about me.
Growing up, my earliest memory involved me scribbling all over the walls of my childhood home.
I’d like to think I’ve come a long way in my writing career since then…
from barrister, to book writer.
After graduating from the University of Reading, UK and qualifying as a barrister-at-law of the Inner Temple, I spent several years in litigation practice before leaving to pursue my first love: writing.
I now write picture books for children that serve to empower and enchant, poetry that gives voice to the female experience and serve as the Managing Editor of makchic.com, an online parenting platform based in Malaysia.
Inspired by my magician mother, who pulled stories seemingly out of thin air to hold me spellbound as a child, I have never lost my sense of wonder, nor the knowledge that words have the power to shape young lives.
I am also:
a wife…
to my loving (and exceedingly patient!) introvert of a husband;
a mama…
to my 2 wilding boys who simultaneously delight and destroy my world;
…& a creative
who enjoys singing - whether it’s at weddings or worship, stage shows or the shower (THE best acoustics, hands down).
I also cook decently, dabble in theatre occasionally, exercise (highly) infrequently - and eat therapeutically.
