What If? A Launch To Remember
Some moments in life leave an indelible mark on your heart, and the launch event for What If?, the children’s picture book I co-authored with Liyana Taff, was undoubtedly one of them. Held earlier this year, the event was a celebration of a dream turned reality and a platform to spark vital conversations about body safety and boundaries.
It was truly heartwarming to see parents, educators, and children come together for this special occasion. Liyana and I took to the stage to share our journey in creating What If?, highlighting the inspiration behind the book and the importance of addressing personal safety with young children. Speaking about something so close to my heart, in the company of a supportive community, was both humbling and exhilarating.
As Free Malaysia Today so aptly covered in their feature, the event was more than just a launch—it was a safe space for dialogue. We wanted parents and caregivers to walk away feeling empowered to have these often-overlooked yet crucial conversations with their children. The article beautifully captured our intent to create a resource that bridges the gap between understanding and action.
One of the highlights of the day was the interactive storytelling session, where children actively engaged with the story’s themes. Their curiosity and enthusiasm were a testament to how receptive young minds are when approached with kindness and care. We also introduced the discussion guide included in the book, which offers practical tips for adults to navigate these sensitive topics effectively.
Having the event and our book featured by Free Malaysia Today was an honor. It was encouraging to see our mission resonate not only with the attendees but also with a wider audience through their thoughtful coverage. The article underscores how storytelling can be a powerful tool for change, providing both children and adults with the confidence to address challenging topics.
